Dear STEAM Community,
Congratulations on embarking on what we believe will be a transformational year for our school community. In one way or another we have all been welcomed into this community because we share in a common and bold vision. At STEAM we will work together to ensure all of our students obtain the knowledge and 21st century skills necessary to be college and career ready. You are crucial to this effort.
How can you help? As poet Maya Angelou would say, "Just from where you are," making a difference through whatever role you play today. Whether you are a student, parent, family member, staff member, teacher, or administrator, you have the opportunity to contribute to the collective effort. For example, as a student, you may assist in creating engaging student activities for your peers or simply support by attending and always doing your best in class. As a parent, you might have time to join our Parent-Teacher Association, or maybe you simply committ to attending all parent-teacher nights. Whichever contribution is possible, we welcome it. Our collective efforts will power and transform our relatively young community into an even more effective STEAM engine for student empowerment and success.
We have two complimentary key programs in full force this year. These programs are key because they are backed by solid funding and are completely aligned with the vision for our STEAM students. The first is our Project Lead the Way program, and the second is the AVID Program for College Readiness. Teachers will be asked to join efforts and collaborate strategically around these two programs. I am certain that all of our students will benefit greatly for this focused collaboration.
The work we share in preparing students for the 21st century is monumental and I am so glad to count you all as part of it. Please accept my sincerest thank you in advance and welcome to school year 2014-2015; "Full STEAM Ahead!"
